THE HOSTAGE
Directed by C. Tim Quinn
FRESNO BEE
Can a Dublin brothel be filled with hilarious, murky assortment of patriots?

As written by Irish playwright Brendan Behan and assembled by director Tim Quinn of Fresno City College, it can. "The Hostage," at the college, is a tightly crafted beautifully performed play

"The Hostage" brings "The Troubles" (Irish discontent with British rule in Northern Ireland) to a peak. An 18-year-old Irish Republican Army man in a Belfast prison is to be hanged. But Dublin patriots have kidnapped a young British soldier who is brought to a Dublin brothel, which is also an IRA headquarters, as a hostage to exchange for the IRA man.

Accents are good. Miguel J. Reyna's "Pat," the limping veteran of many conflicts, is completely. Gabriela Lawson is marvellous as the fifty-ish madame, "Meg" a woman of principle.
