Joan Melton heads the Voice/Movement program for the Department of Theatre and Dance at California State University, Fullerton.

She trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London, and and has taught at leading drama and music centers in the United states, Britain, Ireland and Australia, including the manhattan School of Music, the Central School of Speech and Drama, the Drama School, Dublin and Western Australian Academy of performing Arts.

She holds a PhD., from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and Bachelors and Masters degrees in music from the University of Mississippi, Oxford.

She is a published author and composer, a specialist in 20th Century vocal music, and a Master Teacher of the Fitzmaurice approach to theatre voice training.

Joan is a former Secretary of the Voice and Speech Training Association (VASTA), a frequent presenter at the international conference, and a regular contributor to professional journls in theatre and singing.

Fron 1993-96, she was executive Director - Voice for Professional Edge, a national consulting firm for Business professionals, and since 1993, she has been on he voice team at the Center for Voice, Western Medical Center, Santa Ana, CA
